Eye operation camp at Mayavati. Deepavali celebrated at the Sangha. A monthly Free eye care camp conducted at Beldiha, a remote village of Hooghly. Patients who require Cataract Operation are selected and brought into our SEVA MANDIR for free operation; others are treated on spot with free medicine. After examination the distant infirm patients are taken back to their residences by our medical van. Independence Day celebrated by students of Sarada Seva Sangha . . . Eye treatment camps held for school students at Dakshineswar and Belmuri . . . Saraswati Puja As a part of our social service we celebrated Saraswati Puja for the Primary School and free coaching centre for those who literally belong to poorest possible section of the society. The auspicious day was observed solemnly and the students decorated the Seva Mandir with colour papers which increased the pomp and grandeur of the observation. We are happy to inform that a good number of kids had their “HATE KHARI” (ritual first hand writing celebration) before the goddess Mother Saraswati with the chanting of Mantra by the priest. One of the students from our free coaching centre made a beautiful decoration of the floor (in front of the idol) which drew the attention of the devotees and was highly appreciated and praised by the visitors. Free Coaching Centre : Teachers' Day Celebration We run a free coaching centre for registered 150 poor children (Boys 20 & Girls 130) studying from class I to XII, six days a week. They are also taught Spoken English, moral and cultural values besides YOGA and games. The students are provided nutritious snacks every day. They are also given books, note-books, one set of dress, toothpaste, brush, soap, Blankets etc. Our motherland has been passing through a very difficult phase due to various reasons. Communal disharmony, religious strife, activities of the extremist etc. have dealt serious blows to our national fabric of peace and harmony. The youth have been going astray like a rudderless ship. To steam the rot we wanted to inculcate the patriotic feeling as well as ethical and moral values. Our sincere endeavor is to give the students an opportunity for self-expression in a guided way which will ultimately help them develop into true citizens of this country. We conducted The Teachers Day on the auspicious Birth Day of Sarbapalli Radhakrishnan who is an Idol before the next generation Teachers. The students and Teachers participated in the programme. In commemoration of the life and ideal of great Teacher Sarbapalli Radhakrishnan the honour and respect was shown through Song, Dance, Recitation, Games by the students in which teachers participation was equally remarkable. Sit & Draw Competition To inspired the Children and young generation ( between a age group of 4 to 16) every year we conduct an open Sit and draw competition without any entry fees and /or any charges. The participants mostly within the mentioned group prepare themselves thought the year for this lucrative day and esthetically participate in this programme with their guardians as escort. It is a very jubilant programme with pomp and grandeur in the arena where children in different dresses peacefully sit together as a competitor amongst themselves. Library : Celebration of Sister Nivedita's Birth Day Our Sister Nivedita Library, consisting of a free text-book section for girls and a section Vedanta and Other Books for women, having more than 7500 books and a membership tentatively 450. We are deeply indebted to Pratima and Sucharu Chakraborty Charitable Trust for so generously providing us funds to start one Book Bank for needy, poor, studious, meritorious and talented students, for class XI-XII, covering all streams( Science, Arts and Commerce). They are being sponsored by the Headmistresses of neighboring Girls High Schools (covering a radius of 10 K. M). Students are lent entire set of books for the academic course during the academic session (12 months) totally free of cost. To inculcate the values of Sister Nivedita, an Irish lady who dedicated her life for the women-lib of our country being inspired by Swami Vivekanada, who entrusted her with the noble goal for the development of Indian women. In commemoration of Sister Nivedita’s unique life of dedication and deep devotion towards the uneducated and undeveloped Mothers and sisters of our Mothyerland, we conducted, on the auspicious birthday of the Holy Mother’s “Khuki”, a seminar on the life of our most beloved Sister Nivedita. |
